Portfolio management process: planning step

Parts of the planning step of the portfolio management process:

  1. Identify the investment objectives and constraints.
  2. Create an investment policy statement.
  3. Form a set of capital market expectations.
  4. Determine a strategic asset allocation.

Following parts are NOT in the planning step.

  • Evaluation of the performance of the portfolio.
  • Selection of assets or managers for the portfolio.
